Health and Wellness Ministry

The Health and Wellness Ministry at Grace promotes health, wellness and healing within the community of Grace Lutheran Church and School. Health Cabinet programs are coordinated by parish nurse MaryBeth Buschmann, with direction and support from volunteer members of the Health Cabinet.

Grace's Health and Wellness Ministry promotes healthy living habits and assists members who are struggling with illness and caregiving issues.

Several congregation members are also trained to respond and minister to victims of domestic violenceClick here for helpful links to more information on these topics.

Sunday morning Heatlh Cabinet activities include:

•    A Health Cabinet table in the atrium on the fourth Sunday of every month, offering blood pressure checks and other health information
•    Healing stations during communion distribution on the first Sunday of every month. We all are in need of healing of our spirits, bodies or minds at one time or another. After receiving communion, those who wish to participate in this ritual may go to either side of the church sanctuary to receive a prayer and an anointing. Participants may also ask to include a family member or friend in the prayer.

The Health Cabinet coordinates the Chronic Illness Support Group and a Caregivers Group. It leads the Prayer Shawl Ministry and contributes health and wellness columns to Grace Notes, the congregation's newsletter. It also maintains a Lending Closet of items such as walkers and crutches for congregation members to borrow as needed.

If you would like to be part of the activities of the Health Cabinet, or have an interest in initiating a new activity directed to its mission, please consider becoming a member. A health care background is not required. To learn more, contact Marybeth Buschmann (
