Community choir presents a Christmas concert at Grace
The Northwest Choral Society (NWCS), under the direction of Alan Wellman, presents a concert titled “Joy to the World!” on Saturday, December 7, 7:30 p.m., here at Grace. The concert will feature Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, along with John Rutter’s arrangements of a number of popular Christmas carols and hymns. Harpist Catherine Litaker and the NWCS chamber orchestra will accompany the choir. Chicago Choral Artists perform at Grace on Dec. 14
Chicago Choral Artists presents a concert, "Human Conflict/Divine Resolution," at Grace Church, Saturday December 14, 7:30 p.m. The music of Brahms, Hassler, Whitacre, Thompson, and others, including a requiem dedicated to the children and adults slain at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, MA, will be under the direction of Robert Sinclair, guest conductor. Sing-Along Messiah benefits PADS
First United Methodist Church of Oak Park and the MacDowell Artists Association will present their 13th Annual Sing-Along-Messiah on Sunday, December 8, at 3:30 p.m. This popular holiday event will feature a professional orchestra and soloists, harpsichord, and the church’s historic Skinner organ. The audience sings along as the Chorus. A reception follows the concert. No tickets are required. A free-will offering will be received to support the West Suburban PADS program which provides food, shelter, and social services for the homeless in our community.
