Sovereign God, you have created us to live in loving community with one another. Form us for life that is faithful and steadfast, and teach us to trust like little children, that we may reflect the image of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.

Sermon
“Transformed For Others”
Genesis 2:18-24, Mark 10:2-16
It is not good for humans to be alone. We were made by the triune God so that we can live in relationship with others. Loving our neighbors in all our vocations. We belong to each other. And yet because of the sway of sin, too often our relationships are fractured, severed, and marked by selfishness and the desire for power. Jesus makes clear that those are all matters of the heart. This Jesus is on a mission to do something about that. He is driven all the way to the cross where he becomes the fractured one. Severed and cut off from life itself. Through this death he halts sins sway forever and rising again he plunders death itself. In our baptisms we have been united to this Jesus and given a new heart. Now, through the Spirit, our vocations are transformed. The baptized life is now marked by the joy of serving. Our relationships now defined by giving of ourselves for the sake of the other.
