Prayer of the Day
Gracious God, your blessed Son came down from heaven to be the true bread that gives life to the world. Give us this bread always, that he may live in us and we in him, and that, strengthened by this food, we may live as his body in the world, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
Amen.

Sermon
“Eating Is Believing”
John 6:35, 41-51
For the third Sunday in a row, we hear about bread from John’s gospel. It would be easy to tune Jesus out at this point, thinking that we have heard his message, but he is always saying something new. Jesus is now talking about seeing, believing, eating, and living—forever. The Communion meal that the church celebrates with bread and wine is none other than a feast on the one who is the true bread from heaven, Jesus Christ. But this meal is a foretaste of a never-ending feast which God has prepared for us in Christ.
