Prayer of the Day
Almighty God, you anointed Jesus at his baptism with the Holy Spirit and revealed him as your beloved Son. Keep all who are born of water and the Spirit faithful in your service, that we may rejoice to be called children of God, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

“A People Immersed in God’s Future”
Luke 3:15-17, 21-22
To a people who have known exile God promises redemption. To a people lost and alone God promises a future where they will be home again. Safe with God forever. This God will go to great lengths to make that possible. Becoming immersed in the world of sin and death Jesus begins his public ministry. He is baptized by John and enters fully into this fragile and finite world. From there he goes all the way down into death. Embracing all those held in its grasp and rising again he has set us free from our age old captivity. With Jesus on the other side of the grave we are found, redeemed, and home wherever we lay our heads. We are God’s beloved children. In our baptism we have been joined to his death and resurrection. Immersed in those waters God’s future has become ours. So we walk forward unafraid, dying to sin and rising to new life each day with the son.
