Sermon

“Right Here”
Luke 1:68-79, Luke 3:1-6
Christ promises to come. His advent is imminent. His promise is certain. It will happen. It is as sure as the rising sun dawning in the east and breaking upon us. And when he comes all flesh will see God’s salvation. On this second Sunday of Advent, we are reminded that this inbreaking of God will not happen just in a far-off land but right here. Right here amidst the desert wilderness of our lives and the rulers of this age that seem to wield so much power and authority. In the real deep blue darkness of this very world, Christ will come.  On that day, every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways made smooth. And so, in the meantime we prepare, wait, watch, and trust. It is just over the horizon. Christ is coming soon.
