Prayer of the Day
Creator God, you prepare a new way in the wilderness, and your grace waters our desert. Open our hearts to be transformed by the new thing you are doing, that our lives may proclaim the extravagance of your love given to all through your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
Scripture
Luke 19:28-40 (Processional Gospel)

Psalm 31:9-16
Philippians 2:5-11
Luke 23:1-49
Sermon
“Into His Father’s Hands”
Luke 23:1-49; Isaiah 50:4-9a
Where did it go wrong? The Word, this One sent to sustain the weary, is welcomed with Hosannas only to be crucified a few days later. Yet here on the cross, we see Jesus doing what he’s been doing all along. Forgiving the unforgiving. Welcoming the worst into paradise. Trusting that his life is held in his Father’s hands, even in the face of death. On the cross, amid suffering and humiliation, we see God’s grace on full display. Maybe it hasn’t gone wrong after all. Here, in the shadow of the cross, we see God making all things right.
